    How We're Helping

    How We're Helping

    How We're Helping

We are a community-based organization focused on helping make the world around us a better, happier place. With the help of our tireless members, we organize fundraisers, exciting community-building events, and in-depth training sessions for our volunteers.

As Rotary International members, we abide by the Four-Way Test when evaluating our actions:

    1. Is it the truth?
    2. Is it fair to all concerned?
    3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
    4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

    WHERE IS VAIL, ARIZONA?

VAIL is a census-designated place (CDP) in Pima County, Arizona, United States. It is 24 miles (39 km) southeast of Tucson. The population was 10,208 at the 2010 census, up from 2484 in the 2000 census. The area is known for the nearby Colossal Cave, a large cave system, and the Rincon Mountains District of Saguaro National Park, a top tourism spot within Arizona.

Vail was originally a siding and water stop on the Southern Pacific Railroad. It was located on the last section of flat land before the train tracks followed the old wagon road into the Cienega Creek bed. Vail was named after pioneer ranchers Edward and Walter Vail, who established ranches in the area in the late 19th century. Vail deeded a right of way across his ranch to the railroad. Vail owned the Vail Ranch, his brother Walter Vail owned the nearby Empire Ranch, now part of the Las Cienegas National Conservation Area. Attempts to incorporate the town were defeated in 2013 and 2023.

IS VAIL A GOOD SCHOOL DISTRICT?

The Vail School District is an award winning school district.  Vail has been recognized locally, statewide, nationally, and even internationally.

    OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT'S GUIDING PRINCIPLES:

    • WE RESPECT PARENTS.  We operate on behalf of parents and assist them in educating their children.  We deeply value parental choice and involvement.
    • WE CARE ABOUT EVERY STUDENT.  We believe every student must be included, respected, and provided a physically and emotionally safe environment.
    • WE VALUE OUR EMPLOYEES.  Our staff is carefully selected on the basis of their ability to carry out the  mission and guiding principles. We hire the best and respect their expertise and opinions.
    • OUR SCHOOLS ARE COMMUNITIES OF LEARNERS.  A community is a place where each individual is important and has something  valuable to contribute. Learning is a lifelong activity. We are all learners.  We expect staff, volunteers, and parents to model this belief for students.
    • WE DO THE HARD WORK OF GETTING ALONG.  We believe that the quality of our adult relationships greatly influences the character and accomplishments of our students

One of Rotary’s most colorful traditions is members’ exchanging club banners. Clubs display their own decorative banners at meetings and district events, and Rotarians who travel to other countries often take these banners to exchange with the clubs they visit.
